Front Desk Executive

I am delighted to reflect upon my work experience as a Front Desk Staff at Philea Resort Melaka from March 2021 to Sept 2023. Before I start, I did my diploma in Hotel Management and Iata in Philea Academy from year 2018 to year 2020. Philea Academy sponsor me for my diploma with the condition where I need to work for them for 3 years after I finished my studies. During my time in this role, I had the privilege of being the first point of contact for our guests, and I take great pride in the contributions I made to ensure a positive and memorable experience for every guest. I start working in Philea Resort Melaka as Front Desk Staff (management training) from year 2021 to year 2022 then I was promoted to Front Desk Executive in year 2022.


In my role as Front Desk Staff, my primary responsibilities include:

  1. Guest Check-In and Check-Out where I will welcome guests, processing their check-ins and check-outs efficiently, and providing a warm and friendly atmosphere.
  2. 2. Reservations and Room Assignment where I handle reservations, assign rooms, and ensuring that guest preferences were noted and fulfilled.
  3. Guest Inquiries and Assistance where I address guest inquiries and requests, providing information about the hotel's local attractions, and resolving any issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
  4. Record-Keeping where I Maintain accurate records of guest information, room availability, and financial transactions.
  5. Collaboration with Other Departments where I coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

In my role as Front Desk Executive, my key responsibilities include:

  1. Guest Services where I ensure all guests received a warm welcome and good service from check-in to check-out. Resolving guest issues professionally to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
  2. Staff Leadership where I manage and supervise Front Desk Staff and create a positive and motivated work environment.
  3. Reservation Management where I oversee room reservations and coordinate with housekeeping and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
  4. Quality Control where I implement and maintain quality control procedures to meet the company's standards and exceed guest expectations.
  5. Financial Responsibility where I manage the front desk budget, tracking expenses, and finding cost-saving measures while maintaining service quality.

Working at Philea Resort was a good experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. The support and collaboration within the team were very good, and I learned a lot from my colleagues. The company always emphasis on guest satisfaction and staff development contribute to my personal and professional growth. Company also give continuous support and encouragement to me during my time in the company. It was a pleasure working with such a talented group of individuals, and I cherish the moments and experiences I had at the front desk. I believe the skills and experiences gained during my time at Philea Resort will equip me to be good in my future job. I also look forward to apply the knowledge and expertise I've learned in the field of front desk management in the future.
